Future Athletes of Louisiana is a 501c(3), non-profit organization dedicated to providing young athletes with the opportunity to participate in athletics and to reach their fullest potential. Our mission is to focus on the personal growth of the youth of Louisiana through participation in athletics. By facilitating children’s participation in sports on both an individual and team basis, we will begin to create and nurture a foundation of teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
We understand that through the platform of sports, a child’s life can be greatly impacted. Studies have shown that active kids are more successful in life and athletics have historically afforded all kids the opportunity to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Sports are more expensive now than ever before. Kids from low-income families are largely left out of sports solely because of cost. Many middle-class families also struggle to pay expensive registration fees and equipment costs.
FAL was founded in 2005 to address these challenges in youth sports. In 2020, a new board was elected and is currently operating the organization. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play sports. For over a decade, we have provided access to sports for kids from families of every income level. By paying registration fees, travel expenses, equipment, and other associated costs, we help to keep kids active while also experiencing the positive impacts of participating in sports.
Alicia began working with FAL in the summer of 2019. She is married to David Bergeron, who is also active within FAL. They have two children that participate in a variety of youth athletics.
Our team is a diverse, thoughtful, and energetic set of leaders that are passionate about youth sports. Each of us has experienced the power of sport. It’s important to us that every child have the opportunity to play youth sports so they too can experience the positive benefits of playing.
With the financial support from individual donors, corporate partnerships, and grants from foundations focused on empowering kids through sports, Future Athletes of Louisiana will remain a valuable resource for income restricted families and communities by providing financial assistance to get their kids involved in youth athletics.
